We announce the death of Jeanne Merchen of Kadoka, South Dakota, who passed away on June 27, 2026. Jeanne will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Glen Batie and Mabel Batie (Huwe); her husband Harry Merchen, Jr.; her sisters, Verlys Knoble, Marlys Mikkelson and Carol Merchen; and her brothers-in-law, Roger Pickett, Phil Mikkelson, Melvin Merchen and Boyd Porch.
She is survived by: her children, Melonie Jeanne Medalen (Marc) of Rapid City, Steve Merchen (Sheri) of Rapid City, Tim Merchen (Tammy) of Norris, Terrie Barnes (Keith) of Harrold and Dawn Koch (Mark) of Custer; and her siblings, Darrel Batie (Lynette) of Custer, Dan Batie (Gigi) of Colstrip, Montana, Gwenth Pickett of Spearfish, Beryl "Bunny" Berry (Keith) of Faith, Patricia Porch of Rapid City and Dixie "Dee" Knolton (John) of Frisco, Texas. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
