He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Ida Mae "Patty" Patterson, Joan Patterson, Francis and Norma Vander May; and his great-grandparents, Rollie, Ruth Eva Shoemaker, Leo and Catherine Vander May.
He is survived by: his parents, Mark May and Cindy Vander May (Patterson) of Long Valley; his siblings, Dallas Kendrick (Dwan), Christopher Kendrick (Karla), Bethany Vander May (Levi), Kanan Vander May, Kenar Vander May and Jarrett Vander May; his siblings' children, Carter, Cruz, Creed, Camille and Klancy Kendrick; his grandfather Jerry Patterson; and his aunts and uncles, Robert Patterson, Grant Patterson (Susan), Scott Patterson (Arla), Kevin Vander May (Diane), Matt Vander May (Melissa), Sharon Bebout, Tammy Carlson (Mark), Lisa Patterson, April Patterson, Deb Kussman (Rick), Nancy Donnelly (Scott), Chris Grable (Rich), Pam Dixon (Will) and Julie Carlbom (Dan). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church (600 Maple St, Kadoka, SD 57543). A vigil service was held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A memorial service was held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Memorial Video Play. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church (600 Maple St, Kadoka, SD 57543). A graveside service was held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 at 9:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
