He is survived by: his brother Alex Gay; his nieces and nephews, Vienna Red Feather (Alan), Mikayla Mitzel, Kristina Martinez (Reggie), Kari Ann Burkes (Chris), Katrina LaPointe (Dean), Laticia, Sunshine Gay (Mike), Ezra Mitzel, Mario Vasquez, Jr. (Kassandra), Angel Vasquez, William Gay (Tina), Ota Gay, Charles Gay (Shanda), Robert Gay, Larry Gay, Aaron Gay and Michael Tenorio; his caregiver H. S. Housekeeping; his brothers-in-law, Mario Vasquez, Sr., Gary Mitzel (Stephanie), Cecerio (Deann), Leo Bald Eagle, Richard Bald Eagle (Clara Bald Eagle), Francis Montileaux (Geraldine Lujan), Wilbur Witt (Juanita Witt), Collins Gay (Myrna Gay), Lyle Iron Horn (Bonnie Gay) and William White Feather; and his extended family Book Lovers. He is also survived by numerous granddaughters and grandsons.
