He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Kirwan and Helen Kirwan (Velder); his wife Willa Turner; his son Mick (Julie); his brother Mel; and his siblings-in-law, Minnie (Gene) and Tom (Susan).

He is survived by: his children, Jeannie Crowe (Michael), Edward (Guldara), Teresa Volesky (Jerry), Marita Rieckman (John) and Kathleen Kirwan; and his siblings, Gene, Susan, John and Tim. He is also survived by children; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Mark's Catholic Church (251 N 3rd Ave, Lake Andes, SD 57356). A rosary was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, July 16th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
