It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Severen West of Langford, South Dakota, who passed away on November 28, 2020, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Olaf West and Garda West (Hemnes); and his brother Gerhard West. He is survived by: his former wife Gwen Krage (Jones) of Westport, SD; his children, Angela Tofflemire of Goodyear, AZ, Scott West of Westport, SD and Darin West of Aberdeen, SD; his grandchildren, Michaela Tofflemire, Austin Tofflemire, Tosha Valsvig, Taryn Martin, Tyler West and Dillon West; his great grandchildren, Breyson Valsvig and Tavin Martin; his siblings, Orville West of Groton, SD, Lillian Nielsen of Roslyn, SD, Genevieve Olson of Roslyn, SD and Valle West of Huntington Beach, CA; and his close friend Eleanor Oelkers of Langford, SD..

“I first learned of Sev's death on Facebook. I tried to friend Angie but I don't think she recognized my name. We had a fairly short marriage of only 5 years but he taught me to love the land and South Dakota. I am saddened by his passing and hope you all remember him with love. Darin, you were the one that I got to know the best during the summers and weekends. Still think of you as my step-son. I have you all in my genealogy. Love from Sally Clair”
