He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Auer and Mable Auer (Karinen). He is survived by: his wife Helen Pontius; his brother Ray Auer (Connie); his nephew Steve Auer (Jody); and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Pontius, Louise Dauphinais (Paul) and Linda Sevc (Roger). He is also survived by his wife, three children, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In a lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the Spearfish Ambulance Service.
