He was predeceased by: his parents, Dean Ratliff and Helen Ratliff (Batien); his brother Robert Ratliff; and his father-in-law Hilbert VanWesten. He is survived by: his wife Brenda VanWesten; his children, Rebecca, Tim Ratliff (Tonya) of Crescent, IA, Becky Hunter (Nathan) of Elk River, MN, Wendy Hellenga (Chad) of Sioux Falls, SD and Heidi DeWitt (Will) of Freeport, FL; his grandchildren, Elijah, Aliyah, Isaiah Ratliff, Daniel, Samuel Hunter, Dalton Hellenga, Morgan, Carter, Camden, Adalyn, Emmett and Elliot DeWitt; his mother-in-law Delsie VanWesten; his siblings, Lyle Ratliff and Lila Williamson (Greg); and his brothers-in-law, Dale VanWesten (Shelli) and Don Cooper.

Memorial donations may be directed to the family and will go toward mission work Alan supported during his life.
