It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Vanderwerf of Lennox, South Dakota, who passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Poppens and Mabel Poppens; her husband Harry Vanderwerf; her daughter Kathryn Daggitt-Vanderwerf; and her brothers, Eldon Poppens and Arnold Poppens.
She is survived by: her sons, David Vanderwerf (Pamela Beeson) of Wagner, SD, Douglas Vanderwerf (Linda) of Tea, SD and Ronald Vanderwerf of Sioux Falls, SD; her grandchildren, Joshua Vanderwerf (Abigail) of Lennox and Jessica Voelker (Casey) of Tea; her great grandchildren, Allegra, Jamen Vanderwerf, Emery, Brady and Jaina Voelker; and her sisters-in-law, Lena Brower of Atwater, MN, Alice Fluit of Sioux Falls, Mary VanDekieft (Mike) of Canton and Marlys Vanderwerf of Sioux Falls. She is also survived by many other extended family members and friends.
