He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Goembel and Russel Goembel; his daughters, Dawn and Connie; his siblings, Sharon Goembel, Clifford "Whitey" and Daryle Goembel; and his stepsister Mary Ann Kerschmann.

He is survived by: his stepmother Helen; his uncle Ted; his aunt Esther; his former wife Marilyn Arends; his wife Janice Finch of Lennox, SD; his children, Kevin Goembel (Tami) and Coleen Letellier (Dan); his stepson Brad Dean (Billie); his daughter Amy; his siblings, James Goembel (Marvella), Glenn Goembel, Barbara Ossenfort (Don), Diane Stearns (David), Bryce Goembel (Maggie) and Larry Goembel; and his sister-in-law Mary Anne Goembel. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
