He was predeceased by: his mother Elizabeth Agatha Artz (Hoppe); and his wife Connie. He is survived by: his father John Jacob; his children, Bernard J. "John" Artz of Aberdeen, SD, Kevin Artz, Duane Artz of Leola, SD and Karen Lilly (Clifford) of Leola, SD; and his siblings, John Artz (Janice) of Winthrop, MN, Betty Doerr (Dennis) of Loveland, CO and Frances Aldinger of Aberdeen, SD.
