He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Steckel and Ruth Steckel (Weatherly); his sister Kathleen; his granddaughter Sienna Weisbeck; his brother-in-law Delmar Nowak; and his niece-in-law Debi Nowak.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Boeding of Letcher; his children, James Steckel (April) of Herrick, Rebecca Weisbeck (Nick) of Duluth, MN, Elizabeth Steckel of Orange County, CA and Timothy Steckel (Sara) of Letcher; his grandchildren, Johnny, Carson Weisbeck, Harrison and Parvati Steckel; his sister Patricia Nowak of Sioux Falls; and his nephews, Craig Nowak (Gwen) of Great Falls, MT and Doug Nowak of Sioux Falls.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM and at 6:30 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel (210 E Green Dr, Mitchell, SD 57301). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Letcher Community Church (303 S 4th St, Letcher, SD 57359).
