We announce the death of Darlene Stewart (Madison, South Dakota), who passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 85. Darlene will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, George F. Schriever and Frances P. Simmensen Schriever; her grandson Isaiah Young; her brother Lee Schriever; and her siblings-in-law, Judy Schriever, Carol Bebo, Gene Stewart and Terry Bebo.
She is survived by: her husband Donald D. Stewart; her children, Donna Mathison (Bob) of Madison, SD, Darwin Stewart (Meegan) of Ramona, SD, Doyle Stewart of Ramona, SD, Dodi Young (Brian) of Sioux Falls, SD and Darci Johnson (Steve) of Lowell, AR.; her grandchildren, Tyler Polzen (Karisa), Jenna Ely (Zach), Davis Mathison, Addison Stewart, Eliza and Malakya Johnson; her great grandchildren, Braxton, Trevor Polzen, Gunnar, Jolee, June and Rose Ely; her siblings, Gary (Patricia), George Jr. Schriever, Pearl Kellen (Jerry), Rose Gause (Gordon) and Linda Richman (Kim); and her in-laws, Darlene Schriever, Sharon Abraham, Bob Stewart (Becky), Jim Stewart, Sandra Stanford (Rodney) and Dan Stewart (Linda).
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ellsworth Funeral Home (321 Egan Ave N, Madison, SD 57042). A prayer was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church (44556 227th St, Ramona, SD 57054). A burial was held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:15 AM at the St. John Cemetery.
