He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Melcher and Marion Melcher (Graphenteen); his parents-in-law, Bernard and Christine Holker; his niece Kristi Melcher; and his sister-in-law Katheryn Asfeld.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Holker of Madison; his children, Teresa Nelson (David) of Cary, NC, Joseph Melcher (Yumi) of Chester Springs, PA and Jessica Melcher of Buford, GA; his grandchildren, Cade, Luke, Lila Melcher, Wyatt Nelson, Zaria and Brielle Ndoping; his siblings, Tom (Sue), Dale (Joyce), Bob (Mary), Carla Bigalke (John), Allen and Phyllis Poss (Sheldon); and his brothers-in-law, Jerome (Helen) and Edward (Florence).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, June 20th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel (320 Egan Ave N, Madison, SD 57042). A prayer will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church (415 Van Eps Ave S, Madison, SD 57042).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Veterans Honor Park, 510 Washington Ave. S., Madison, SD 57042.
