He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Knittel and Adella Knittel (Pfeiffer); his wife Gladys Knittel; his son Shane Knittel; and his sister Lavonne Knittel.
He is survived by: his son Lance Knittel (Melisa) of Spearfish; his grandchildren, Paxton and Carson Knittel; and his brother Donald Knittel (Barbara) of Freeman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel (113 Park St, Menno, SD 57045). A prayer will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (255 Juniper St, Menno, SD 57045). A burial will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at the Menno Cemetery.
