She was predeceased by : her parents, Max Brandsrud and Murna Brandsrud (Patterson); her husband Harlowe Nelson of Martin's Lutheran Church; her brother James Brandsrud; her in-laws, Simon and Ruby Nelson; and her siblings-in-law, Clifford Nelson and Teresa Nelson.
She is survived by : her sisters, Patricia Anderson of Silver Lake, KS and Jackie Rieffenberger (Bill) of Watertown, SD; and her siblings-in-law, Denise Nelson and Lane Nelson.
Outside of work, Chris enjoyed crocheting afghans, which she would later donate to local nursing homes.
