He was predeceased by : his parents, Henry Poppen and Laurena Poppen; his siblings, LaVonne Wagner and Dean Poppen; and his son Kenneth Wayne Poppen.

He is survived by : his wife Dixie; and his children, Richard Poppen of Milbank, SD, Terry Poppen (Amy) of Rowlett, TX, James Poppen (Becky) of Cambridge, MN and Jennifer Horne (Scott) of Cedar Park, TX.
