With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Janis M. Candela in Mitchell, South Dakota, born in Willow Lake, South Dakota, who passed away on January 2, 2026 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Janis leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur John Groeneveld and Lorena Marie Scharffenberg. She is survived by: her children, Eric, Greg and Nancy; her brother Lynn; her nephew Lane; and her nieces, Rene, Lorena and Amanda.
