It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jeffery Wayne Smith of Mitchell, South Dakota, who passed away on May 1, 2026, at the age of 63, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Jeffery leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Jeffery may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Darrell Smith and Donna Smith (Daywitt); his siblings, Ionia Klein (Bob), Jody L. Smith and James A. Smith; his niece Melissa Brunmeier; and his great-nephew Tyler Brunmeier.
He is survived by: his children, Jeff Smith (Janelle) of Mitchell, Kenni Smith of Plankinton and Ashley Hanson (Jeff) of Mitchell; his sisters, Sherry Shreiner (Bill) of Gregory, SD and Kay Jacobsen (Curt) of Dallas, SD; and his brother-in-law Boyd Hysell (Kay) of Stewartville, MN. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, six great grandkids.
