We bid farewell to Mary Dappen of Mitchell, South Dakota, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on July 23, 2025 at the age of 89. Mary touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Louie Henry and Sophie Pauline Matucha (Svoboda); her husband Wesley Dappen; her siblings, Louie Matucha and Louise Matucha; her son-in-law Calvin Hoffie; her granddaughter Lindsay Olson; and her siblings-in-law, Joseph Theodore "Ted" Dappen, Lester Dappen, Beverly Dappen Jacobsen, Margaret Dappen, Harriet Dappen and Barbara Dappen.
She is survived by: her son Dr. Robert Dappen (Cindy) of Tempe, AZ; her grandchildren, Becky Wright, Jackie, Clancy and Luke Dappen; her daughter Shirley Olson of Louisville, KY; her grandchildren, Neleigh and Ethan Olson; her daughters, Dorene Hoffie of Pierre, SD and Joette Loos (Jon) of Lincoln, NE; her grandchildren, Noah and Annie Loos; her great grandchildren, Elliot, Iris Clancy, Violet, Zoey Wright, Bruna and Oliver Dappen; and her siblings-in-law, Lavina Frey Matucha, Luther Dappen and Glen Dappen. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel (210 E Green Dr, Mitchell, SD 57301). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Reunion Church (700 E 15th Ave, Mitchell, SD 57301). A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Graceland Cemetery.
