He was predeceased by: his father Wendell Whitney; his wife Linda; and his mother Helen Whitney. He is survived by: his children, Kristi Marken of Aberdeen, SD, Jennifer Foss (Steve) of Sioux Falls, SD and Corey Whitney (Nicole) of Armour, SD; his grandchildren, Ashley Finley (Kevin), Katelyn Scheffert (Riley), Alyssa Whitney (Trey Baake), Jadeyn Foss, Hannah Lau (Micah), Eilert Marken and Jayse Foss; his siblings, Bill Whitney (Bev), Debbie Knutson (Darrel), Jim Whitney, Tim Whitney (Kim) and Theresa Ott (Dan); and his sisters-in-law, Diana Buseman (Leland) and June Hansen. He is also survived by numerous nieces/nephews.
Before COVID hit in 2020, they enjoyed spending time with friends and were often gone for weeks at a time.
