He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Retzer and Helen Retzer (Beck); his wife Yvonne (Dockter); his sister Genevieve Opp (Hilmer); and his grandparents, Emilie (Fritz), John Beck, Katherine (Miller) and Christopher Retzer.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Tonner (Michael) of LeMars, IA, Dorinda Vojta (Kevin) of Mobridge, Daniel Retzer (Laureen) of Bothell, WA, Deanna Retzer (Stelian Dragan) of Brooklyn, NY and Douglas Retzer (Erin) of Rapid City, SD.; his siblings, Robert Retzer (Darnelda) of Aberdeen, SD and Emilie Oster of Richmond, MN; his grandchildren, Brianna Dehaan (Daniel), Nathaniel Tonner (Nichole), Andrew Tonner, Rachel, Logan Vojta, Dalton Retzer, Miles, Marshall Retzer, Hudson and Hazel Dragan; and his great grandchildren, Eleanor, Benjamin Tonner and Remy Dehaan.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Mobridge Senior Center.
