He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Herman Johnson and Betty Augusta Johnson (Nielson); his wife Phyllis Arlene Roos; his siblings, Ruth Lavonne Hamro and Albert Aagren Johnson, Jr.; his granddaughter Lynn Burge; his son-in-law Peter Stark; and his nieces and nephews, Gloria Anderson, Betty Johnson, Roy Johnson and Nathan Hamro.
He is survived by: his children, Vicki Stark of Nisland, Brenda Burge (Terry) of Marion and Monty Johnson (Beth) of Madison, Indiana; his grandson Robert Burge (LeAnn Peterson); his great grandchild Julian of Lino Lakes; his grandchildren, Brian Burge of Beresford, Crystal Cunningham (Mike) of Crestwood, Logan Raths (Lina) of Sturgis, Stephanie Fuchs (Bryant) of Bowman, Jennifer Hamilton (Evan) of Madison and Daniel "Trapper" Johnson; his great grandchildren, Clara, Oscar, Walter "Wally" Burge, Emma, Samantha, Henry Cunningham, Evelyn, Aubrey Raths, Elianna, Vance Fuchs, Alyeska and Asher Hamilton; his sister-in-law Barb Roos (Arny) of Peoria, Arizona; and his friend Marcella "Marcie" Hatfield of Newell.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to Pleasant View Cemetery, Carthage, South Dakota, remembering that today is only temporary, however, our local cemeteries to whom we entrust our loved ones require care forever.
