She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Godager and Mary Godager (Koepke); her husband Roderick; her son-in-law Monty Carter; her siblings, Charles Godager, Ben Godager and Elisa Godager; her nieces, Leslie and Laurie; and her stepson-in-law Nick Nicholas.
She is survived by: her children, Betty, LaRie Whaley, Michael Nelson (Theresa) and Dori Carter; her grandchildren, Chris Carter (Kendra), Colton Carter (Kristen), Brenna Nelson, Curtis Nelson (Meghan), Cheyene Sarceno and Jack Whaley (Kaitlyn); her great grandchildren, Effy Carter, Ezlynn Carter, Sullivan Carter, Covey Carter and Josephine Nelson; her stepchildren, David Nelson (Deanne) and Cheryl Nicholas; and her nieces, Christie Young and Marcie Chavez.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Lutheran Memorial Church (320 E Prospect Ave, Pierre, SD 57501). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
