Cecilia Newsam Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Cecilia Newsam of Pierre, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 7, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Amos Lemieux and Elizabeth D'Haenens O'Brian; her husband Charles Hubert Newsam; her son Lee Frank Newsam; and her siblings, Thomas Lemieux, Charles Lemieux, Philip Lemieux, Ambrose Lemieux, Nancy Lemieux Schuetz, Mary Lemieux Eberly and Marcella Lemieux.
She is survived by: her sister Margaret Dayton of Bokelia, FL; and her children, Marrion Newsam Banks (Allen), Susan Freeman (Jerry), Mary Knapple (Toby), Jerald Newsam (Darla), Randy Newsam (Coral), Clarence Newsam (Cindy) and Richard Newsam (Alice). She is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Black Hills National Cemetery (20901 Pleasant Valley Dr, Sturgis, SD 57785).
