He was predeceased by : his parents, Henry Hettinger and Clara Hettinger (Kraft); his wife Jane; his son Arthur; and his brother Ron.

He is survived by : his children, William Hettinger (Kathy) of Pierre, SD and Wendy Otheim (Wes) of Hartford, SD; and his brother Bill Hettinger of Fort Collins, Colorado.. He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
