With heavy hearts, we announce the death of David Dean Rabbit Sr. of Pine Ridge, South Dakota, who passed away on May 28, 2025 at the age of 59. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Narcisse Rabbit and Jane Rabbit (Goings); his brothers, Gerald Smith and Ernie Goings; his nephews, Johnny Red Hawk and Whitney Rabbit; his cousin Francis Killer; his aunts, Lessanes Killer and Katherine Janis; his grandparents, Edmond St. John, Sr., Mildred Rabbit, Hopson Henry Goings and Mary Chief-Goings; and his pet Tasunk Rabbit.
He is survived by: his significant other Katherine Water-Rabbit; his children, Alynn (Albert), Chiffon (Duane), Jennier (Jason), Ashley (Charles), Jovon (Eric), David, Jr. (Tasia) and Tekawitha (Lyle); his siblings, Marlys, Lessanes (Katlin), LeAnn (Gabby), Kathy Dondi Wilson and Ben Smith; his aunts, Lola, Francine, Bonnie, Debbie and Darla; his grandchildren, Liana, Makaylyn, Ava, Desmond, Alex, Myrtle, Naudicia, Andre, Angelo, Jr., Aubrey, Ariana, Asia, Precious, Paisley, Kayden Dean, Adelia, Ariel, Addison, Isabella, Tobias, Antwon and Azalea; and his great grandchildren, Kanan and Kylie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, & relatives.
A wake will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Pine Ridge Elementary School (101 Thorpe Cir, Pine Ridge, SD 57770). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Black Hills National Cemetery (20901 Pleasant Valley Dr, Sturgis, SD 57785).
