He was predeceased by: his parents, Doug Janis, Sr. and Marie Janis (White); his wife Carol Janis (White Thunder); his son Donald Joseph; his siblings, Rick, Deb, Clayton and Doug, Jr.; and his grandparents, Raymond, Diamond Janis, Martin and Josephine White.
He is survived by: his siblings, Wendyll Smoke, Olin Janis, Payton Janis, Calvin Janis, Shawnna Janis, Dawn Marie Janis and Shalane Janis; and his nieces and nephews, Brandy, Mary, Dennis, Diana, Coco and Victor. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Sioux Funeral Home (370 Oglala avenue, Pine Ridge, SD 57770). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
