He was predeceased by: his parents, Amil Vanderheiden and Anna Vanderheiden (Pekoske); his siblings, Gene (Anna), Donnie (Joann), Lyle, Wayne Vanderheiden (Veree) and Elaine Wilkins (Wes); and his brother-in-law Don DuFrain.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Weldin of Platte; his children, Carmen Brodie (Ian) of Austin, Texas, Denette Anthony (Stephen) of Pownal, Vermont and Kyle Vanderheiden (Nicole) of Omaha, Nebraska.; his grandchildren, Phillip, Andrew, Chelsea, Maia, Spencer, Zack, Riley, Reagan, Reese, Ridgley and Riverly; his great grandchildren, Aria, Lena and Grey; his siblings, Iona DuFrain and Floyd Vanderheiden (Gert); and his sister-in-law Marium Vanderheiden. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Reformed Church (101 Main St, Platte, SD 57369). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
