He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Johnson and Minnie Johnson; and his sister Bonnie Kjerstad. He is survived by: his wife Jean Kitterman; his daughter Jana Bielmaier (Craig); his grandchildren, Ryon, Jocelyn and Kinsey; his daughter Jackie Roseth (Thor); his grandchild Royce; his daughter Jennifer Richter (Dalton); and his grandchildren, Dylan, Rylee and Tyen. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established to the Quinn Volunteer Fire Department.
