He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Orland and Neva Eddith Johnson (Wickersham); his former wife Margaret Jane Inman; his wife Shirley M Heppner; his sisters, Lois Charlotte French, Alta Mae Coleman, Doris Opal Reiner, Mildred Elaine Brown (Lowe) and Vernice Hope Salmon (Raben); his granddaughter Amanda Johnson; and his stepsons-in-law, Dick Owens and Dick Proell.
He is survived by: his sons, Daniel Johnson (Mary Milroy) of Yankton, SD, Roger Johnson (Amy) of Marathon, FL, Bradley Johnson (Brenda) and Jeffery Johnson (Connie) of Sherwood, OR; his granddaughter Jana Jensen (Brad) of Reno, NV; and his stepdaughters, Kristy Owens, Karen Proell, Kathy Bell (Rocky) of Alliance, NE and Karla Weldon (Mark). He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, fifteen step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home (2700 Jackson Blvd, Rapid City, SD 57702). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church (3500 Canyon Lake Dr, Rapid City, SD 57702). A graveside service was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Black Hills National Cemetery (20901 Pleasant Valley Dr, Sturgis, SD 57785).
