He was predeceased by: his parents, August Engel and Mabel Engel; his daughter Karen Bitterman; his wife Mildred Parmely Engel; his siblings, Erwin, Tootsie and Arlene; his stepdaughter Karen Spiczka; his son-in-law Frank Spiczka; his grandson Stan Spiczka; and his great grandchild Dalton Lambrecht.
He is survived by: his children, Luane VanderBerg (Bob), Denise Wing (Ron) and Craig Engel (Annette); his brother Jack Engel (Beth); and his sister-in-law Leona Bebee. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.
Lowell lived alone for over 11 years after Mildred was admitted to a care facility for Alzheimer's in 2011.
