With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Reuben Julius August Bareis of Rapid City, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 30, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverand Reuben G. A. Bareis and Lydia Bareis (Wildi); his wife Marloe; his brother Robert; and his half-sister Janet.
He is survived by: his former wife Caroline Backsen; his children, Steve and Anne Baker; his grandsons, Patrick and Evan (Allison); his son Paul Bareis-Golumb (Mary); his grandchildren, Lucas and Anica (Steve); his son Stephen Bareis; his grandchildren, Pooja, Dan and Laura (Jennifer); his child Jean Bareis (Carrie Martin); his daughter-in-law Eva Hanrahan; and also Janet.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kirk Funeral Home & Cremation Services (1051 E Minnesota St, Rapid City, SD 57701). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church (710 Kansas City St, Rapid City, SD 57701).
Memorials may be sent to the Westhills Village Foundation, the South Dakota Community Foundation – Bareis Family Fund, or to a favorite charity.
