He was predeceased by: his parents, Chris Schildhauer and Donna Schildhauer; his sister Dee Woods; his brother-in-law Gus Kruger; and his nephew Luke Kruger.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Heng; his daughters, Andrea Nelson (Rick) of Baltic, Miranda (Mindy) and Hammer (Brad) of Garretson; his grandchildren, William Rentschler of Sioux Falls, Andrew Tommeraasen of Dell Rapids, Kaylynn Tommeraasen of Garretson, Izabel Hammer of Garretson, Josh and Kate Nelson of Baltic; and his sisters, Marie Kruger of Dell Rapids, Linda Neville (Mason) of Colton, Marlene "Beck" Hauglid (John) of Colman and JoAnn "Etta" Borns (Mike) of Dell Rapids. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
