We are sad to announce that, on May 13, 2026, at the age of 89, Alvern Buum in Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Alvern may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Buum and Antoinette Buum (Swanson); his brother Wayne Buum (LaVonne); and his in-law Ralph Huebner (Rose). He is survived by: his wife Marcella Huebner; and his children, Angie Castillo of Denver, Michele Radack (Mark) of Tyndall, Jerry Buum (Laurie) of Beresford and Jeff Buum (Carrie) of Beresford. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
