He is survived by: his wife Ruth DeWald of Sioux Falls, SD; his daughters, Sherry VanMeter (Kelly) of Sioux Falls, SD, Sandra Fischer (Gary) of Sioux Falls, SD and Jennifer DeWald (Corey Ulrickson) of Harrisburg, SD; his grandchildren, Brandon (Noel), Tyler, Kennedi (Taggert), Brady, Sam and Brooklyn (Christian); his great grandchildren, Beckham and Charlotte; his siblings, Bernard DeWald (Rose) of Sioux Falls, SD, Roland DeWald (Norma) of Sioux Falls, SD, Dennis DeWald of Omaha, NE and Alvera Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD; and his siblings-in-law, Phyllis DeWald of Tripp, SD and Dale Reiner of Sioux Falls, SD.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the George Boom Funeral Home (3408 E 10th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57103). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Harrisburg United Methodist Church (204 Grand Ave, Harrisburg, SD 57032).
