He was predeceased by: his parents, Johanas Hanson (John) and Gladwin Hanson (Covell); his wife Bernadette "Sally" Hanson; his sisters, Lillian Fiebick and Betty Heiden; and his stepsiblings, Gertrude Johnson, Harold and Jim Liedtke.
He is survived by: his former wife Bernadette Brown (Sally); his friend Bob; his children, Vicki Daley (John) of Jacksonville, FL and Doug Hanson (Louise) of Colton, SD; his grandchildren, David Mullins (Tania), Rachel Haugaard (Daniel), Hannah Mustian (Sean), Daniel Hanson (Julie Brennan), Jonathan Hanson, Abigail Erickson (Levi), Joshua Hanson (Jessica), Liberty Hanson and Elianna Hanson; his great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Natalie, Jason, Caden Haugaard, Kahlil Hollins, Kaylyn, Keira Mullins, Jáel, Alathia, Eden, Valor Mustian, Magnolia Hanson, Kaitlyn, Caleb Erickson, Olivia, Tiffany and Stella Hanson; his half-sister Ann Stotz; and his sisters-in-law, Noni Frericks (Delbert), Nancy Brown and Ruth Brown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the George Boom Funeral Home (3408 E 10th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57103). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Grace Baptist Church (25852 475th Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104).
