He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Austad and Opal Austad (Haufschild); his daughters, Patrece and Kollette Austad; and his siblings, Gene Austad (Joan), Debbie Otten and DeAnn Helm.
He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Fokken; his son Brett Austad; his sister Darla Folsland (Jon); and his brother-in-law Darold Otten.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the George Boom Funeral Home (3408 E 10th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57103). A wake will be held on Thursday, December 18th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 19th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Lambert Catholic Church (1000 S Bahnson Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57103).
