Gerald R. Rezac Obituary
Gerald R.Rezac, age 90, died Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at his home with his wife by his side. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be Friday, October 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at George Boom Funeral Home and On-Site Crematory. Interment will take place at Hills of Rest Memorial Park in Sioux Falls.
Gerald R. Rezac, the son of Frank and Lylia (Gattsch) Rezac was born on October 18, 1933 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He grew up and attended school in Sioux Falls, graduating from Washington High School in 1952. On May 14, 1953 he was united in marriage to Nila Kunkel on her parent's farm. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls and were blessed with four wonderful boys.
Gerald worked at John Morrell & Co for 36 years before taking a position with the Norstan Companies where he continued working until his retirement in 1997. Upon his retirement, Gerald and Nila spent the next 25 winters at the Winter Ranch RV Resort in Rio Grande, TX. Gerald and Nila were long standing members of First Evangelical Free Church in Sioux Falls.
During Gerald's free time he enjoyed traveling, bowling, playing softball, pickleball, archery and golfing. He also stayed busy doing wood and stained-glass crafts. Gerald was a kind, honest and loving man who put God first. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and servant of the Lord. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Nila; sons, Stephen (Nancy) of Blanchard, ID, Mark (Carol) of Sioux Falls, and Timothy (Michael'e) of Gaithersburg, MD; grandchildren, Mathew Rezac, Jennifer Leither, Kristen Rezac, Kelly Rezac, Dani Rezac, Sarah Rezac, and Casey Rezac; great-grandchildren, Jack, Alex, Shae, Camden, Franklin and Maxwell, along with several nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Paul (1996); brothers, Henry, Frank, and John.
