He is survived by: his mother Robyn Mertz of Sioux Falls; his sister Samantha Mertz of Chester; his niece Synthia; his half-brother Jim Mertz of Sioux Falls; and his aunts and uncles, Nancy Eulberg of Dell Rapids, Susan Lucas of Champaign, IL, Gregory Turner of Baltic and Micheal Turner of Renner. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kahler-Brende Funeral Home (107 W 4th St, Dell Rapids, SD 57022). A prayer will be held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
