He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Zaske and Lottie Zaske (Docken); his wife Twyla Zaske (Muetzel); his brothers, Stanley and Robert Zaske; and his son Gregory Zaske.

He is survived by: his children, Jenelle Mehlhaff (Glenn), Wayland Zaske (Cindy), Susanne Peters (Rachel Graetz) and Annette Cook (Tom); his grandchildren, Gregory Olsen (Jennifer), Rebecca Peters (Bryson Griggs), Elizabeth Stevens, Kathryn Wynthein (Tyler), Krystal Zaske Södergren (Leo), Eric Mehlhaff and Christian Sladek; and his great grandchildren, Davyn Griggs, Logan Griggs, Sophia Santos, Nolyn Wynthein, Lincoln Olsen, William Zaske Södergren, Brynn Wynthein, Madison Olsen and Alexander Zaske Södergren.
