She was predeceased by: her parents, Lloyd Mriden and Margaret Mriden (Thompsen); her son Phillip Layne Smart; and her siblings, Richard Mriden, Dennis Mriden, Colleen Lommen, Valerie Fuchs and Diane Kelley.
She is survived by: her significant other Jerry; her cousins, Karen and Shannon; her children, Dianna Smart (Andraya Long) of Denver, CO and Rhead Smart of Westminster, CO; her niece Michelle Boever (Kim) of Sioux Falls; her grandchildren, Justin Thompson (Krystina), Jesse Thompson and Matthew Glass; her great grandchildren, Ocean and Aurora Thompson; her stepchildren, Nancy Anderson of White, SD, Rick Arens (Kerrie) of The Villages, FL, Mark Arens (Carol) of Hartford, SD and Jerry; her sisters, Janice Hanson (Bill) of Fullerton, CA and Lorna Duncan (Tom) of Albuquerque, NM; and her close friend Betty Scott (Ron) of Sioux Falls, SD..
Visitation was held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the George Boom Funeral Home (3408 E 10th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57103). A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
