He was predeceased by: his parents, Ella Nerem (Hoyt) and Carl Nerem Sr.; his wife Arlene Halter; his daughter Sharon (James Tack); and his parents-in-law, Mina and William Halter, Sr..

He is survived by: his daughters, Joyce Dawson (Paul) and Linda Williams. He is also survived by three grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many treasured nieces and nephews.
