We announce the death of Renata W. Smith of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, who passed away on July 12, 2026, at the age of 71. Renata will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Renata will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Renata will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Renata’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her son-in-law Matthew Hilbelink. She is survived by: her husband Duane Smith; and her children, Alexis Van Zanten (Adam), Derek Smith (Jenni), Hilary Andermatt (Matthias) and Colin Smith (Jessica). She is also survived by nine grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Ligonier Ministries or Christ Reformed Church.
