It is with sadness that the passing of Val Shoemaker of Spearfish, South Dakota is shared. Val, born on August 25, 1942, passed away on November 7, 2026. She was predeceased by: her parents, Kenneth Johnson and Nedra Johnson (Blue); her son Jerad; her brothers, Floyd and Ron Johnson; her nephew Kenneth Johnson; and her nieces, Kimberly and Barbara Johnson.
She is survived by: her sons, Vincent (Lynsi) of Larkspur, CO and Steven (Pam) of Georgetown, TX; her niece Susan Anderson of St. John, IN; her brothers, Larry (Mary Shoemaker), Pat Wiles of Virginia and Bev Johnson of Vale; her grandchildren, Brittany Kleyman, Bailey (Eric), Brandon Shoemaker, Allison Traver, Nathaniel Shoemaker (Devin) and Erin Hales (Robert); and her great grandchild Beth Hales. She is also survived by her family and friends, and especially her church family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 9th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Saturday, November 14th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, November 16th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills (715 National St, Belle Fourche, SD 57717). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 17th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. James Lutheran Church (1100 Stanley St, Belle Fourche, SD 57717).
