He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerritt Tjeerdsma and Hattie Tjeerdsma (DeRoos); his wife Margie Lieuwen; his brothers, Frank (Noreen) and Donald (Marjorie); and his brothers-in-law, Eldon Jurrens, Will Lieuwen, John Lieuwen and Cornelius Lieuwen (Eleanor).
He is survived by: his children, Jay Tjeerdsma (Beula) of Springfield, SD, Harlan Tjeerdsma (Kelli) of Springfield, SD, Tammy Doyle (Mike) of Tyndall, SD and Lisa Vlcek (John) of Tabor, SD; his siblings, Mel Tjeerdsma (Carol) of Maryville, MS, Carol Jurrens of Avon, SD and Cheryl DeJong (Don) of Muenster, TX; his sister-in-law Mae Lieuwen of Platte, SD; and his grandchildren, Chad Tjeerdsma, Justin Tjeerdsma, Joshua Tjeerdsma, Jodi Moore, Jessi Vlcek, Ali Vlcek and Kolton Vlcek. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
