He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Gene, Helen Van Emmerik, Leroy, Bonnie Hemmer and Thelma Walwin-Hemmer; his father-in-law Mel Leth; and his grandfather-in-law Helen Jacobson.

He is survived by: his parents, Robert Emmerik and Mary Van Emmerik (Hemmer) of Salem; his wife Jodi Leth; his sons, Taylor and Gavin of Tea; his siblings, Melanie DeBates of Sioux Falls and Kyle Van Emmerik (April) of Sioux Falls; his mother-in-law Marilyn Leth of Grand Island, NE; his brother-in-law Josh Leth (Holly) of Hastings, NE; and his nieces and nephews, Trent DeBates, Jordyn, Bodhi, Jaxon Van Emmerik, Morgan, Skylar, Charlee, Porter and Dylan Leth. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Arthritis Foundation.
