He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Bares and Anna Bares (Bouska); his brother Laddie Bares; his daughter Lori Bares Pinkelman; his sibling's children, Bill Bares and Pam Fameli; and his brothers-in-law, Ray Cahoy and Darrel Lane.
He is survived by: his wife Vera; his daughters, Nancy Buchmann (Duane) of Tripp and Deb Svanda (Kyle) of Tea; his grandchildren, Trina Lagenour (Mike) of Murfreesboro, TN, Loren Pinkelman, Christine Dirks (Austin), Grace Pinkelman, Kelsey Buchmann-Longville (Kristen), Preston Buchmann, Payton Svanda and Riley Svanda; his great grandchildren, Evelyn and Maisie Dirks; and his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Cahoy, Eileen Bares and Gary Lane (Sharon). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 4th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the St. Leo Catholic Church (100 E Nebraska St, Tyndall, SD 57066). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, December 4th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, December 4th 2025 at the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery (41496 303rd St, Tyndall, SD 57066).
