It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard James Abild (Vermillion, South Dakota), who passed away on July 28, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Inman Abild and Ida Abild (Stalheim); and his brother Rudolph "Rudy" Abild. He is survived by: his wife Sally Abild (Hanson); his children, Rich Abild (Denise), Lori Brunick (Ben) and Ida Abild; and his grandchildren, Rylend, Conner, Brycen Brunick, Evan Abild and Evy Abild.
Memorials may be directed to the Clay County Historical Society or the Yankton County Historical Society in honor of Richard's enduring love for local history.
