She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Lenzen and Mary Ann Lenzen (Arens); her in-laws, William and Alice Wittmeier; her siblings, Vernon Lenzen, Louis Lenzen and Sally Hofmaier; and her brothers-in-law, Donald Hofmaier, Jack Schaffer and Gerald Bennett.
She is survived by: her husband Larry Wittmeier of Tyndall, SD; her children, Peggy Wittmeier Brower of Sioux Falls, SD and Brian Wittmeier of Bozeman, MT; her grandchildren, Morgan Brower Blatt (Stefano) of Omaha, NE, Sidney Hayes (Tyler) of Sioux Falls, SD, Johana Brower of Maple Grove, MN and Joshua Simon Brower of Minneapolis, MN; her siblings, Raymond Lenzen (Crystal) of Hartington, NE, Martin Lenzen of Creighton, NE, Marlene Pick of Erie, CO, Mary Buechler (Jim) of Elkhorn, NE, Linda Anderson (Mike) of Hancock, IA, Diane Russo (John) of Marble Falls, TX and Sharon Bennett of Kennewick, WA; and her sister-in-law Carol Lenzen of Buffalo, MN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Kober Funeral Home - Vermillion (402 E Main St, Vermillion, SD 57069). A wake was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 6:30 PM at the Kober Funeral Home (402 E Main St, Vermillion, SD 57069). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Agnes Catholic Church (416 S Walker St, Vermillion, SD 57069). In 2020, during COVID-19 pandemic, Rita moved into the Memory Care Unit at the Vermillion Care Center.
