He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Bud" Joshua Fernau and Merna Selma Fritz; his wife Norma Fernau; his parents-in-law, Frank and Florence Haney; his siblings, Merna Mae Venker, Daryl Fernau and Bill Weber; his siblings-in-law, Lee Fernau, Donna Haney, Lyle and Jim Haney; and his great grandchild Mariana Krempges.
He is survived by: his children, Bob Fernau (Karla) of Rapid City, SD, Cindy Wolf (Charlie) of Burke, SD, Teri Rave (Roger) of Crooks, SD and Tammy Lingen of Luverne, MN.; his grandchildren, John (Nicole), Jeff, Heidi (Andrew), Melanie (Michael), J. J. (Rose), Christina (Adam), Josh, Jenelle (Dallas), Levi (Katie), Dusty (Missy), Kerry (Tiffany) and Chelsi; and his sister-in-law Vesta Haney. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Clausen Funeral Home (226 E 8th St, Burke, SD 57523). A funeral service was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
